Exhibition Identity

Hito Steyerl’s exhibition questions the essence of truth in our histories and common knowledge that surround us. Audience is asked to think about the biases of those documenting and of those interpreting the records. How does knowledge change over time as images and records are reinterpreted time and time again?

I designed a hypothetical title wall that mirrors passerby movement as a distorted, fluid silhouette. The distortion is created in TouchDesigner, and is a reflection of the bodies of knowledge that are never fixed, and under constant subject of personal interpretation.

Simulating Interactive Title Wall

1.) Webcam captures activity infront of the title wall.
2.) Live footage then passes through TouchDesigner for processing the distortion.
3.) Finally in MadMapper, the footage is compiled with the title wall graphics as a single projection.
